Shown here one day when he was sober. Grew up on weekly newspapers, then dailies in various administrative posts for some 25 years or so; then was "paroled" to his first love, art and cartooning.
There was a sentence given by one FDR (Roosevelt) of wading thru
swamplands in places like the Philippines and Okinawa, then honing his art skills under that wonderful GI Bill of Rights.
The fact that he is still drawing his Ed and Emma, now going into it's 58th year, sorta shows you that he's either just plain slow or mostly looks at blank sheets of paper, waiting for ideas to come.
